GRAND MASTERS

MITHUN SIR

While the three Masters are projected as experts in a particular genre of dancing (Remo – Master of Hip Hop, Geeta – Master of Indian Classical & Bollywood & Terence – Master of Contemporary), Mithun da plays the role of the 'GrandMaster' on the show. His role in the show is very Godfather-like! He is the dancing star of the yesteryears & is the one to have introduced 'Disco Dancing' to the country. He is a person who has struggled hard to reach the status that he holds today in the entertainment industry. Through this show he has strived to give a platform to all dance fanatics in the country to come and showcase their extraordinary talent. This is an opportunity for them to transform themselves from mere a 'dancer' into a 'Dancing Star'. He has great respect for talent and empathizes with the contestants as he understands the pressure they undergo before every performance. His own 'rags to riches' story is an inspiration for the contestants and a testimony that hard work and passion can help them reach the zenith of success.

In the show, he is also the representative of the audience & hence retains the right of elimination till the show reaches its voting stage. His discretion is final in the show. Says Mithun da on his role as a Grandmaster, "To cut the long story short, I am the villain of the show…( chuckles…). People hate me because I have to eliminate the nominated contestants. And mind you, that's the toughest job. But seriously, I have been appointed to oversee the Masters. I have to ensure that the contestants are going in the right direction and their talent is exploited to the hilt so that they give superlative performances week after week. At the end of the day, the viewers deserve to see the best and nothing ordinary. That is the standard of DID." When asked about the contestants this season, says Dada, "The contestants are simply amazing. 'Sab ek se badhkar ek hain…' Our three mentors, Geeta, Remo and Terence have a done an arduous task and selected gems from the length and breadth of the country."

When quizzed about his equation with the three Masters, says Dada, "All three of them are the best in the country. I have no words to describe their competence. They mesmerize me week after week with their out of the world choreographies. Their caliber is unquestionable. They have done a superb job of selecting the 18 best contestants for this show and the kind of effort and energy they are investing week after week in these raw talents is truly phenomenal. Hats off to them! Of course, on stage I'm a villain for them because I pass on the verdict on their pupil and someone or the other gets eliminated eventually. But off stage we get along like a house on fire.
